On 14th August 2026, the Faculty of Computer Applications at Future University, Bareilly held its Induction Programme for the newly admitted students at the Main Auditorium. It wasn't meant to be a grand affair - more of a first proper introduction, giving students a sense of the campus, the people running it, and what lies ahead over the next few years.
A fair number of senior university figures turned up for it. Hon'ble Chancellor Mr. Mukesh Gupta was present, as were Pro-Chancellor Mr. Deep Gupta, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Sinha, and Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Anubhav Singh. What made the day stand out a bit more than usual, though, was seeing actor Sudesh Berry there as Chief Guest, with Zee News anchor Himanshi Singh joining as Special Guest - not exactly the kind of guest list students are used to on their first day.
Dr. Abhishek Saxena, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Applications, got things started with a welcome address, giving students a quick rundown of the department, its courses, the facilities available, and what to generally expect academically in the coming years.
After that, it was mostly a round of short addresses from the leadership. The Chancellor spoke about discipline and using the opportunities in front of them well. The Pro-Chancellor kept his remarks brief, mainly about starting off on the right foot. The Vice Chancellor leaned more toward research, innovation, and encouraging students to get involved outside their coursework too. The Pro-Vice Chancellor followed with a word on communication and teamwork, mentioning that these tend to matter just as much as technical skills once students step into the job market.
But if there was one part that really held people's attention, it was Sudesh Berry's. He spoke fairly openly about his own journey, touching on confidence and staying aware of the world beyond textbooks. It came across less like a rehearsed motivational speech and more like someone genuinely sharing what worked for him. Himanshi Singh spoke briefly afterward, encouraging students to stay grounded and focused as they start out.
By the end of it, the programme had done what these things are meant to do - given the new batch a clearer sense of direction and a bit of motivation, with a start that was probably more memorable than most inductions usually are.
